Norwegian construction company Veidekke has secured a major contract from Thon Gruppen to develop a mixed-use property at Vitaminveien 6 in the Storo district of Oslo. Valued at approximately NOK 745 million excluding VAT, the project will contribute to the area’s ongoing transformation into a modern urban neighbourhood combining residential, office and commercial facilities.
The development will cover approximately 30,000 square metres and consist of two seven-storey buildings connected by a commercial podium. The residential building will provide 98 rental apartments, while the office building will offer around 5,200 square metres of workspace. The podium will accommodate retail premises and parking facilities, with additional landscaped areas and a shared rooftop garden planned for residents and office users.
Demolition of existing buildings is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with construction expected to start in April 2027. The project is planned for completion in August 2029. The office building will also target BREEAM Excellent certification and an Energy Performance Certificate Class A rating, reflecting the growing emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainable urban development.
Projects involving demolition, foundations, underground parking and multi-storey construction require a variety of heavy construction machinery. Excavators are commonly used for demolition support, foundation excavation, drainage installation and utility work. Bulldozers and wheel loaders help with site clearance, ground preparation and material handling. These machines are essential for preparing construction sites and supporting continuous building operations.
Intensive machinery use can accelerate wear on critical components, particularly undercarriage systems. Excavators and bulldozers operating on urban construction sites may encounter concrete debris, compacted soil and abrasive materials. Track chains, bottom rollers, carrier rollers, idlers and drive sprockets are exposed to repeated friction and impact during daily operations.
Maintaining these components is important for preventing unexpected breakdowns and controlling operating costs. Regular inspections, correct track tension and timely replacement of worn parts can help maintain machine stability and extend equipment service life. Contractors should also select replacement components that match their equipment models and operating conditions.
FL supplies a wide range of excavator and bulldozer undercarriage parts, including track chains, bottom rollers, top rollers, carrier rollers, idlers, drive sprockets, steel tracks and track adjusters. Through precision machining and heat treatment processes, FL focuses on delivering durable replacement components for construction, mining, roadbuilding and infrastructure applications.
As Oslo continues to redevelop established urban districts, reliable construction machinery will remain essential to project delivery. Contractors, equipment dealers and maintenance teams can improve fleet readiness by planning replacement-part requirements and sourcing dependable components in advance.
