Rodradar is introducing a game-changing innovation for the construction industry: the first-ever excavator bucket with built-in ground-penetrating radar (GPR). The Live Dig Radar (LDR) bucket is now available for order, and the company is already seeing a surge in demand for this cutting-edge technology.
Designed to scan the ground for underground utilities, the LDR bucket provides operators with real-time data on the location, depth, and distance of utilities. With just the push of a button, operators can access detailed information on potential hazards beneath the surface, making it easier to avoid accidental strikes while digging.
Rodradar has partnered with Engcon to integrate the LDR bucket into Engcon’s quick-coupler and tiltrotator systems. This collaboration brings together the best of both worlds, combining the safety and precision of Rodradar’s GPR technology with Engcon’s automated excavation solutions. The quick-coupler system is expected to be available in the first quarter, followed by the tiltrotator system later in the year.
The LDR bucket has been thoroughly tested in real-world conditions, including at JFK International Airport, where contractors are being trained to use the system to improve safety and efficiency. This technology is set to change the way excavation projects are handled, reducing downtime, enhancing safety, and providing operators with the tools they need to dig with confidence.
