XCMG made headlines at Bauma China 2024, held in Shanghai from November 26–29, with the debut of the ZNK95, the world’s largest electric autonomous mining truck, alongside the XE1600H, a groundbreaking hybrid hydraulic excavator. These cutting-edge machines are set to revolutionize mining operations with their focus on efficiency, sustainability, and advanced technology.
ZNK95: Cabless Electric Mining Truck Leading the ChargeDuring a ceremony with Huaneng Group, XCMG introduced version 2.0 of its 85-ton-class ZNK95 mining truck. Building on the success of its 2023 predecessor, the ZNK95 stands out as the largest electric, autonomous mining dump truck in the industry. Designed to excel in extreme environments, including high altitudes and temperatures as low as -40°C, the truck combines durability with intelligent technology.Equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric drive system, the ZNK95 delivers peak power of 800 kW and an impressive torque of 22,000 Nm. Its 509 kWh battery ensures reliable operation even under the heavy loads and steep gradients typical of mining sites. Notably, it offers various operating modes, including short-distance remote control, long-distance operation, and autonomous intelligent driving, thanks to advanced collaborative vehicle, cloud, and network technology. The ZNK95 is already in use at Huaneng Group’s Yimin Open-Pit Coal Mine in Inner Mongolia, where a fleet of ten trucks is operational. XCMG estimates that scaling up to 300 trucks by 2026 could reduce diesel consumption by 47,000 tons and carbon emissions by 149,000 tons annually. To further streamline operations, the truck features multi-channel RTK positioning using BDS, GPS, and GLONASS, ensuring centimeter-level accuracy. It also supports customized battery-swapping options, including unmanned battery stations and mobile solutions.XE1600H: A Hybrid Excavator for Maximum EfficiencySharing the spotlight at Bauma China was XCMG’s XE1600H, hailed as the world’s largest hybrid mining excavator. Designed for heavy-duty excavation, it features a 10 m³ rock bucket and a hybrid power system that optimizes fuel consumption without compromising performance. The XE1600H is powered by a Cummins QSK19 engine integrated with a range extender motor, enabling synchronous operation of the engine, motor, and hydraulic pump. This “peak load shifting” capability enhances fuel efficiency while maintaining high performance. One of the XE1600H’s standout features is its self-developed high-flow electronically controlled hydraulic valve. This system adjusts flow and pressure based on load requirements, minimizing energy loss and optimizing efficiency. Additionally, a boom regeneration valve recovers potential energy during boom descent, further improving energy savings.A New Era of Sustainable Mining EquipmentXCMG’s latest innovations underline its commitment to sustainable and efficient mining solutions. The ZNK95 and XE1600H not only reduce operational costs but also support global decarbonization efforts by minimizing fuel consumption and emissions. With its advanced features and adaptability, the ZNK95 is a game-changer for mining operations worldwide. Paired with the XE1600H’s hybrid technology, XCMG is setting a new benchmark for mining equipment that prioritizes both productivity and environmental responsibility. These groundbreaking machines showcase China’s leadership in industrial innovation and mark a significant step forward in the global push for cleaner, more efficient mining technologies.
